MUTUAL AID TO MORGAN COUNTY

July 3rd: Truck 55 was dispatched at 8:41 to the 800 BLK of Martinsburg Road to assist Morgan County with a house fire. Upon arriving on scene Truck Operations went into effect and firefighters worked on ventilation and extinguished the exterior of the house and put out hot spots with the truck. Truck 55 returned to service at 11:26.

AUTO ACCIDENT

Apr 28th: Company 55 was dispatched at 12:20 to the 900 BLK of Green Lane Road for an auto accident with entrapment. While enroute headquarters advised Chief 55 that the vehicle was reported to be on its side with patient entrapped inside unconscious. Chief 55 advised headquarters to check on availability of air medical. Units arrived on scene and confirmed entrapment. Firefighters worked vigorously to extricate patient. Once extrication was completed, patient was packaged, loaded in ambulance and taken to the landing zone where patient was flown to the hospital. Chief 55 placed the box in service at 2:00.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Apr 11th: Company 55  was dispatched to the 12000 BLK of Buck Valley Road for an auto accident, vehicle overturned. Units arrived on scene to find vehicle laying sideways across both lanes on its roof. Patients were in a nearby house with minor injuries. EMS personnel handled patient refusals while fire personnel rolled car over and got one lane open to wait on the arrival of PSP and tow truck. After the tow truck picked the car up, personnel cleared the roadway of all debris and fluids. Command 55 placed the box in service.

 

 


TRACTOR TRAILER OVER EMBANKMENT

Apr 8th: Company 55 along with Washington County Medic 59-2 were dispatched at 5:22 to I-70 EB in the area of mile marker 166 for an auto accident tractor trailer down over the embankment. Engine 2-55, Chief 55 went responding, dispatch advised Chief 55 that the tractor trailer was the only vehicle involved and that the accident was in the construction zone. Washington County Medic 59-2 arrived on scene and packaged patient and transported to War Memorial Hospital. Units remained on scene to maintain the fuel spill and wait for the arrival of PSP and PennDOT. After PSP and PennDOT arrived on scene, PSP released all fire units and they remained on scene for the tow truck. Company 55 units returned available at 8:22.

 


MUTUAL AID FOR WOODS/STRUCTURE FIRE

Apr 7th: Engine, Tanker, and Brush 55 were dispatched around 13:15 to assist Morgan County Company 2 (Great Cacapon) with a woods fire involving a structure on Brooklyns Way. Personnel assisted with extinguishing the woods fire, while other companies worked on the structure and other parts of the woods. Company 55 went back into service at 17:15.

MUTUAL AID FOR WOODS FIRE

Mar 20th: Brush 55 was dispatched at 14:10 to assist Company 56 with a woods fire in the area of Black Bear Road and Gravel Lane. A firefighter from 56 arrived on scene and advised that it was a woods fire and that it was spreading. Firefighters got the fire extinguished and Command 56 placed Brush 55 and the remainder of the box in service at 15:03.

 


MUTUAL AID FOR FIELD FIRE

Mar 19th: Brush 55 was dispatched at 16:35 to assist Company 56 on a field fire at 8087 Big Cove Tannery Road. Brush 55 arrived on scene and firefighters assisted Company 56 with extinguishing the fire. Command 56 placed the box available at 16:58.

 


WOODS FIRE

Mar 18th: Company 55 and Brush 56 was dispatched at 14:46 for a woods fire. Chief 55 responded in Brush 55, while enroute dispatch advised Chief 55 that the woods were on fire behind the residents from kids setting a chair on fire. Chief 55 arrived on scene and firefighters started knock down on the fire. Chief 55 advised dispatch that we could handle with 55 units, to place Brush 56 in service. Once fire was out and all hot spots were taken care of, Chief 55 placed the box available at 15:32.

 


FIELD FIRE

Mar 17th: Company 55 and Washington County Special Unit 5 were dispatched at 13:36 to 446 Great Cove Road for a field fire. While enroute, headquarters advised Chief 55 that there was approximately 100' x 200' area involved. Brush 55 and Chief 55 arrived on scene to find approximately 1/4 of an acre on fire. Firefighters put a quick knockdown on the perimeter of the fire. Firefighters then soaked the area and made sure there were no more hot spots. Chief 55 placed the box back in service at 14:17.

 


LIVE BURN TRAINING

Mar 12th: NVFC held a live burn training on Cove View Lane. This training was a great learning experience for all. We trained on interior and exterior firefighting. We would like to say a big Thank You to Jason Steiner from Great Cacapon for bringing Engine 2-1 over to assist with this training. We would also like to thank all members that came out to take part in this training.

 


CAR FIRE

Mar 8th: Company 55 was dispatched at 12:50 to the area of the intersection of Sawmill Road and Sipes Mill Road for a vehicle fire. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle fully engulfed. Firefighters got the fire extinguished then put foam on the vehicle. Units remained on scene for the arrival of PSP and tow truck. Chief 55 placed the box in service at 1:50.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Mar 6th: Company 55 along with Washington County Company 5 and 59, were dispatched at 17:26 to the intersection of Old 126 and Flickerville Road for a single vehicle accident. Units arrived on scene to find patient still trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters worked vigorously to extricate the patient. Command 55 advised headquarters to go ahead and start air medical. A landing zone was established for helicopter. Once patient was out of vehicle, EMS and firefighters got patient packaged and into ambulance to be transported to landing zone. Patient was then flown to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Units remained on scene for traffic control and the arrival of the tow truck. Command 55 placed the box in service at 1930.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Mar 5th: Company 55 was dispatched at 14:29 to Interstate 70 Eastbound in the area of the 165 mile marker. Units arrived on scene to find vehicle setting along side of Interstate. Firefighters assisted EMS with patient care while other Firefighters and Fire Police maintained traffic control. There were 3 patient refusals. Units remained on scene to assist with traffic control until the tow truck arrived. Chief 55 placed the box back in service at 16:23.

 


MUTUAL AID FOR FIELD FIRE

Mar 4th: Brush 55 was dispatched at 14:35 to 1010 Overly Raker Road to assist Company 56 on a field fire. While enroute, command 56 placed Brush 55 in service.

 


MUTUAL AID FOR HOUSE FIRE

Mar 3rd: Engine 1-55 and Tanker 55 were dispatched at 13:16 to 29301 National Pike to assist Company 32 with a House fire. Chief 55 requested an Engine transfer from Company 57 to Station 55. Tanker 55 returned to service at 16:50, Engine 1-57 was released from transfer at 16:54, and Engine 1-55 returned to service at 17:48.

 


FIRE ALARM

Mar 3rd: Company 55 was dispatched at 5:04 to 3854 Mountain Road for smoke alarms sounding in residence. Engine 1-55, Chief 55 went responding. Chief 55 arrived on scene and checked residence. Normal conditions were found Chief 55 placed box available at 5:20.

 


CHIMNEY FIRE

Mar 2nd: Company 55, Washington County Company 5, and Tanker 56 was dispatched at 12:54 to 5203 Pleasant Grove Road in Bethel Township for a Chimney Fire. Units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the chimney. Firefighters gained access to the roof, and proceeded to drop chains through the chimney to clean it out. Firefighters used a heat gun to check the temperature inside the interior walls. Once chimney was cleaned and all walls and interior of house was checked, Chief 55 placed the box in service at 13:31.

 

 


MUTUAL AID TO MORGAN COUNTY FOR HOUSE FIRE

Feb 28th: Tanker 55 was dispatched at 6:10 to 365 Cacapon Road in Morgan County for a house fire. Tanker 55 responded with 2 personnel. At 7:24 Engine 55 was dispatched to Washington County Station 5 for stand by. Engine 1-55 responded with 5 personnel, while enroute dispatch advised Engine 1-55 to proceed to the scene of the house fire. At 10:49 Washington County advised for Engine 1-55 to transfer back to Station 5 for stand by. Tanker 55 returned to service at 10:20 and Engine 1-55 returned to service at 12:28.

 


ASSIST CO. 56 WITH CHIMNEY FIRE

Feb 23rd: Engine 55 was dispatched at 15:53 to 3846 Cito Road in Ayr Township, to assist Company 56 with a chimney fire. Engine 1-55 went responding, while enroute Command 56 placed Engine 1-55 available.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Feb 22nd: Company 55 was dispatched at 11:18 to I-70 Eastbound MM 166 for an auto accident. Upon responding headquarters advised Chief 55 that it was a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle, and that patient was still in vehicle. Firefighters arrived on scene and began assessing the patient and got the patient packaged for the arrival of the ambulance. Ambulance 1-55 transported patient to hospital. Units were then released by PSP who remained on scene along with PennDOT for the arrival of the tow truck. Chief 55 placed the box in service at 12:07.

 

 


NOTICE!!!              NOTICE!!!             NOTICE!!!

BINGO PLAYERS: Wednesday night bingos are being cut back to every other Wednesday. Since bingo was held this past Wednesday that means there will be no bingo on Wednesday, February 9th. Next Wednesday night bingo will be held on February 16th, and so on. This will remain in effect until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation.

 


MUTUAL AID TO MORGAN COUNTY

Feb 3rd: Tanker and Engine company 55 was dispatched at 05:05 for a mutual aid response to Morgan County for a building fire at 4324 Orleans Road. While enroute, Morgan County called back and advised Fulton to place units available. Units returned back to service at 05:31.

 


TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR MVA

Jan 31st: Company 55 Fire Police was dispatched at 14:20 for traffic control of a non-injury auto accident approximately 4 miles west of Great Cove Road on Buck Valley Road. Brush 55 responded to assist with traffic control. Upon arriving on scene, exact location was 9000 Block of Buck Valley Road. One vehicle off the roadway and another vehicle partially on roadway. Personnel handled traffic control and placed absorbent on roadway and cleared roadway. Brush 55 placed units back into service at 15:20.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Jan 31st: Engine 55 and Ambulance 55 were dispatched at 7:40 to 8411 Great Cove Road for a single vehicle auto accident. Chief 55 went responding. Headquarters advised they received another call stating there was no injuries and that no need for Fire or EMS. Chief 55 held himself and Brush 55 for traffic control and placed remainder of the units available. Chief advised dispatch there was actually 2 vehicles involved and that PSP was needed. Brush 55 and Chief 55 went in service at 8:24.

 


MEDICAL ASSIST FOR FALL PT. AND LZ

Jan 29th: Ambulance 55 was dispatched to 1119 Granite Drive for a fall patient. After dispatch Chief 55 advised headquarters that he would be responding in Brush 55 with manpower for medical assist. Enroute after headquarters gave patient info, Chief 55 advised them to dispatch Engine 2-55 to Southern Fulton High School to set up a landing zone and Chief also advised to go ahead and get ALS from Co. 59 and get LifeNet in the air. Personnel got the patient packaged and loaded into ambulance. Units then went enroute to landing zone. Chief 55 placed Brush 55 and Engine 2-55 available at 15:23 and Ambulance 1-55 went available at 15:53.

 


ASSIST CO. 57 WITH MOBILE HOME FIRE

Jan 26th: Engine and Tanker 55 were dispatched at 1057 hours to Taylor Township, 255 Tanglewood Lane to assist Company 57 with a mobile home fire. First unit arrived on scene and advised that the heater just fell over and sparked. Command 57 held company 57 and Bedford County Tanker 40-21 and placed the remainder of the box in service at 1125 hours.


TRACTOR TRAILER FIRE ON I-70

Jan 25th: Company 55, along with WC Company 5 and 59, were dispatched at 0905 hours to Interstate 70 Westbound in the area of the 159 mile marker for a tractor trailer fire. While enroute dispatch advised Chief 55 that this was called in by PSP and that the driver was able to get the tractor unhooked from the trailer. First unit on scene confirmed that tractor was unhooked from trailer and that back half of the trailer was on fire. Firefighters put a quick knock down on the fire while other firefighters worked on getting the trailer unloaded. Bedford County Engine 40-14 established fill site in Crystal Springs. Chief 55 later advised dispatch to start an engine from Co 56 to the scene. Firefighters worked on getting roadway clear. Chief 55 placed the box in service at 1418 hours

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Jan 20th: Units were dispatched at 0916 hours to Stillwell Road in the area of the township line for a single vehicle auto accident, vehicle rolled over. Dispatch advised Chief 55 that there was only 1 patient and that WC Ambulance 59-1 was on scene assisting. Units arrived on scene and assisted with patient care and traffic control. WC Ambulance 59-1 transported patient to War Memorial Hospital. Firefighters remained on scene and awaited the arrival of the tow truck and cleared debris from roadway. Chief 55 placed the box in service at 1027 hours.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Jan 15th: Units were dispatched at 1554 hours to Interstate 70 Eastbound at the 160 mile marker for a single vehicle auto accident rolled over with multiple entrapment. Dispatched advised there were four occupants in the vehicle (2 adults, 2 pediatrics) all which were entrapped. Eng 2-55 arrived on scene and started extrication of patients. Company 55 was assisted on scene by Washington County Companies 5 & 59. Command advised dispatch to start two air medical units to the scene. Life Net 8-1 landed and loaded first patient, as soon as Life Net was in the air, STAT 11 landed and loaded other patient. Both helpicopters transported to Hershey Medical Center. Ambulance 1-55 then loaded the third patient and transported to Hershey Medical Center also. The fourth patient was treated on scene and went in Ambulance 1-55 to Hershey Medical Center. Engine 2-55 remained on scene for tow truck and cleared the roadway. Chief 55 placed the box in service at 1740 hours.

 


TRAINING

Jan 15th: NVFC held a live burn training on Jan 15 in Warfordsburg at the old Tastee Freeze building. Firefighters got the chance to train on going into a smoky structure, then we worked on keeping the fire contained. This was a great learning experience for all. We would like to thank Jason Steiner of Great Cacapon for coming over and assisting us, we would also like to thank all of the members that came out to take part in this training.

 

 


HOUSE FIRE

Jan 4th: Units were dispatched to 340 Cove View Lane for an Automatic Fire Alarm. After Engine 1-55 went responding, dispatch advised that second call stated there was heavy smoke and flames coming from inside the residence. Firefighter Fleegle arrived on scene and advised dispatch to start second alarm assignment. Dispatch then struck second alarm assignment. Firefighters had the initial blaze knocked down within 30-45 minutes. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours to get the fire completely extinguished and perform mop up. Command 55 then placed the box in service once the fire was extinguished and mop up was complete. Companies that responded were Needmore, McConnellsburg, Hustontown, Mercersburg, Hancock, Breezewood, Clear Spring, WC Rehab 255, WC Air Unit 251.

 


SHED FIRE

Oct. 11th: Company 55, 56, and Washington County Company 5 were dispatched to 485 Pleasant Ridge Road for a shed Fire. Chief 55 arrived on scene to find the fire burning in the rafters and spots of fire on the bank in the woods directly behind the shed. Firefighters put a quick knockdown on the fire. All units remained on scene for mop up. Chief 55 placed box in service.

FIRE PREVENTION AT SOUTHERN FULTON ELEM. SCHOOL

Oct. 8th: NVFC went to Southern Fulton Elementary School to do a presentation for Fire Prevention Week for Pre-K and Kindergarten students.

 


AUTO ACCIDENT

Oct 3rd- Company 55, WC 5 and 59 were dispatched at 1303 to Union Township Interstate 70 Eastbound mile marker 163 for an auto accident vehicle overturned with unknown injuries. While enroute dispatch advised Chief 55 that updated mile marker was 161.5 eastbound. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle overturned with patient out of vehicle with a patient refusal. Units remained on scene with PSP for the arrival of tow truck. Chief 55 placed units in service at 1423.

Oct 1st- Needmore Volunteer Fire Company would like to send out a big thank you to all the companies that showed their condolences and support at a much needed time. NVFC would also like to thank everyone that brought food to help out with the meal. We would like to give a big thanks to McConnellsburg Vol. Fire Co. for their support and for standing by to run our calls, Hustontown Vol. Fire Co. for their support and flowers, also to Breezewood, Hancock, Great Cacapon, Halfway, and Greencastle Hose Company 1 for all their support and condolences.

 


VEHICLE FIRE

Sept 28th- Company 55 was dispatched at 1520hrs to the intersection of Franklin Mills Road and Mill Hill Road for a vehicle fire. Units arrived on scene to find a SUV fully involved. Firefighters quickly put a knock down on the fire. Units remained on scene for the arrival of PSP and tow truck. Units returned available at 1632hrs.

 

 

 



OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY GOES OUT

Sept 28th- NVFC is mourning the loss of a fellow Junior Firefighter that was lost early Monday morning in a fatal car accident. Viewing will be this Thursday at Needmore Bible Church, family will gather from 2 to 4 and friends will gather from 6 to 8. Services will be held this Friday at 11am at Needmore Bible Church with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Any fire department wishing to bring a unit please contact Chief JR Sigel @ 240-291-2343.


I-70 AUTO ACCIDENT

Sept 27th- Company 55 was dispatched at 3:50 for an auto accident at the 165 mile marker eastbound. Units arrived on scene to find 3 patients, 1 was a patient refusal. Units cleared scene at 5:30.

 


I-70 AUTO ACCIDENT: ROLLOVER W/ ENTRAPMENT

Sept 11th- Company 55 was dispatched at 1:45 to I-70 EB MM 170 for auto accident vehicle overturned with entrapment. While enroute dispatch advised there was a firefighter/paramedic from another company on scene confirming entrapment. Engine 2-55 arrived on scene and started extrication. Ambulance 1-55 advised dispatch to go ahead and get air medical enroute to the scene. Brush 55 handled traffic control and shutting down the roadway when air medical got in area. WC company 5 and 59 was on scene also and assisted with patient extrication. Patient was extricated and packaged onto backboard with full C-Spine immobilization and then was transferred onto Life Net 8-1's cot and then air lifted to the hospital. WC Chief 5 advised that Co. 55 units to return to service and they would remain on scene and handle clean up. Command 55 placed Co. 55 units available at 2:49.


CPR TRAINING HELD AT THE FIREHALL

Members of NVFC participated in a CPR training at the firehall to better further their knowledge to be able to continue to better serve the community.

 

 

 


FIRST RESPONDER PRACTICAL PRACTICE

Members from NVFC, MVFC, and Hustontown area all took part in the Pennsylvania First Responder Class. This class is to certify personnel as a First Responder which will later allow those individuals to train in the EMT Bridge class to become EMT's.

 

  

 


BASIC VEHICLE RESCUE TRAINING

Members of the NVFC participated in a basic vehicle rescue training. The training was a great learning experience for all the members that attended.    


BRUSH FIRE

 March 3rd- Co.55 was alerted to 523 Back Run Rd. Ayr Township (Box 156-01) to assist company 56 with a brush fire. Members assisted with the brush fire and returned to service.

ODOR OF GAS INSIDE

Eng Co. was alerted to assist Washington County at Mason Dixon Apartments on Warfordsburg Rd. for a odor of gas inside. Eng. Co. 55 arrived on scene and assisted Washington County Co. 5. Command 5 then advised the engine that they could go available . 


 MVA

CO.55, WC CO.5, 59, and MC SQ 1 was alerted to (Union Township) I-70 at the  163 MM for a MVA. Units searched the area command 55 advised all units could go available nothing was found.


 MVA

CO.55, WC CO.5, 59, and MC SQ 1 was alerted to (Bethel Township) I-70 at the 165 MM East bound for a MVA with rollover. While enroute headquarters advised that there were 3 PT's ,and all maybe possible  PT refusals. Units arrived on scene to find a vehicle over an embankment with all occupants out of the vehicle. Command 55 advised headquarters to cancel MC SQ 1. EMS assisted with the PT's and members assisted in clean up of hazardous chemicals and debris.


 MEDICAL ASSIST

Eng 2-55 was alerted to (Bethel Township) Hill Crest Drive to assist WC M 59-1. Eng 2-55 arrived on scene and assisted Washington County Medic 59-1. Engine 2-55 went available about 20 minutes after dispatch.


 FALL VICTIM

Amb 55 and brush 55 was alerted to (Belfast Township) Sipes Mill Rd. for a fall victim. While eroute headquarters advised the pt was back in the woods. Units arrived on scene and assisted the PT and advised headquarters to start medic 56 and put  MedEvac on standby. Headquarters advised that Life net 81 could not fly due to weather. Personal loaded the PT then transported by ground.


 HOUSE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

Nov 18th -  Eng 1-55 and Tanker 55 was alerted to assist company 57 with a house that was struck by lightning. While enroute Eng 2-57 advised they would be holding Co.57 and Co.56 units and the remainder of the box could go available. Co.55 units then went available. 

 


 ENGINE 3-55 IS NOW IN-SERVICE

 

Nov 13th -   Engine 3-55 was placed in-service on October 26th for the protection of are community and surrounding communities.

 

 

 


 MOBILE HOME FIRE

 

Oct 29th -   Eng 1-55 and Tanker 55 was alerted around 13:00 hrs to 21 Gerald's Circle for a mobile home fire. Units arrived on scene and assisted with overhaul. Co.55 units then went available.

 MVA

 

Co.55 and WC M59 was alerted to (Bethel TWP) Barnetts Run Rd. for a auto accident vehicle into a pole.  Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle on its side with wires down. Command 55 then advised headquarters to dispatch for fire police to shut down Great Cove Rd. at Barnetts Run Rd. and to shut down Sipes Mill Rd. at Barnetts Run Rd. EMS assisted the PT and members assisted in clean up of hazardous chemicals and debris. Command 55 then placed the box available after the removale of the vehicle.
