Transfer To WC CO.5
April 16th - April 12th engine 1-55 & brush 55 was dispatched to transfer into WC CO.5 while they was assisting Morgan County on a brush fire. While on stand by, crews ran 1 call, a brush fire. Units arrived on scene to find about an acre on fire. Units cleared 45min after dispatch. Vehicle Fire
April 16th - April 7th Chief 2-55 advised Chief 55 that there was a vehicle fire at Buck Valley Rd. and Harmony Rd. Eng 1-55 and the chief responded to find a SUV fully engulfed. Firefighters put the inch hose line into service and put a quick knock down on the fire and foamed the SUV. Units went back into service 30 Min later.
Vehicle Rescue Class
April 16th - On March 27th firefighters and EMS personal traveled to shives junk yard for a vehicle rescue class. Class Instructor was Jim Stone. Members were divided into 3 groups. Some new members learned how to do a pie cut in the B post for some of the newer cars with the side airbags, also along with a dash lift and various different things. Prior to this class, members had an air bag implications class to learn all the things that will be coming out in vehicles in the next few years. In both classes there was a total of over 20 people there for each training. We will be having various different trainings each month.

Mar 6th - Firefighters were awaken at 745hrs. for a MVA at the intersection of Buck Valley Road and Stoneybreak Road. Headquarters advised Chief 55 that there were 2 vehicles and 5 patients. Chief 55 then had headquarters start MC Ambulance Co. 7 and Ambulance Co. 56 and Medic 56. Units arrived on scene to find a pick-up truck vs. a car with the entire front end of of the car smashed in up to the windshield. Chief 55 advised headquarters to go ahead and cancel ambulance and medic 56 that the units we had on scene were sufficient. Ambulance 55 transported a class 2 patient and 2 class 3 patients to Fulton County Medical Center, while MC ambulance 7 and WC ambulance 59 each transported one patient to Washington County Hospital. Fire units remained on scene for the arrival of PSP and the tow truck. Units cleared the scene around 930hrs.
BUSY DAY FOR THE SOUTH
Feb 29th - Company 55 ended the month with a lot of calls. At 14:41 units were dispatched to Thompson Rd. and Myers Rd. for MVA with rollover. Units cleared at 16:33. At 17:20 we were dispatched for medical assist with an unconscious person. Res 55 cleared at 17:51. At 18:50 Eng1-55 and Eng 2-55 were dispatched to 789 Bradshaw Rd. for a CO2 detector activation. Units cleared at 19:29. Units were alerted at 19:31 to 4939 Flickerville Rd. for a MVA with unknown injuries. Units searched the area, nothing was found. Chief 55 placed the box available at 19:47. Finally ending the day units were alerted to the area of Buck valley Rd. and Persimmon Rd. for a MVA with rollover. Units arrived on scene to a single SUV on its side and the PT had self extricated from the vehicle. Firefighters and EMS personal collared the pt and back boarded them and Amb 55 went enroute to the hospital class 2. Firefighters remained on scene untill PSP arrived and the power company arrived units cleared at 23:06.

Buck valley Rd. and Persimmon Rd. MVA
MVA W/Entrapment
Feb 3rd - Units were alerted around 10:30 to 8737 Buck Valley Rd. (Bethel township) for an auto accident, vehicle overturned with entrapment. While enroute headquarters advised units responding that caller stated a vehicle overturned with entrapment and the roadway was a sheet of ice. C55 advised headquarters to put air medical on standby. C2-55 was first to arrive on scene to confirm dispatch also advised pt had a head injury. Rescue 55 arrived on scene and started extrication. C55 advised headquarters to start air medical and for engine 1-55 to set up the LZ. LZ was set up at 643 and 522 due to heavy amounts of fog. Units cleared about 1 1/2 hours later.

Feb 2rd - Firefighters were awaken at 07:53 for Tanker 55 being alerted to Washington County Pennsylvania Ave for a house fire. Tanker 55 w/C55 went responding at 07:55. C55 advised C1-55 if there was Additional man power at the station go ahead and respond with Brush 55 for man power. Tanker 55 was approaching the scene to request assignment from command 5. Command 5 advised to stage along the road and send all man power to the house. Tanker 55 and Brush 55 went available at 09:05.
Tanker 55 w/2, Brush 55 w/4 and 1 POV Chimney Fire
Jan 18th - Units were alerted to 1852 Black Bear Rd. for a chimney fire. Engine 1-55 was first to arrived on scene. Command 55 to hold Co.55 units place the rest of the box available and stated for all other units to stage on the hard road. Firefighters checked for fire in the walls. search came out negative. Crews cleaned chimney and restored it back into working conditions command 55 place the box available in about 30 min.
Snow Storm Brings Multipal Calls
Jan 17th - The morning started out with a chimney fire at 3377 Great Cove Rd. Engine 1-55 and Tanker 55 went responding arrived on scene to confirmed dispatch. Firefighters did a flu sweep an restored the flu in working conditions units cleared in about a hour and 15 min. Units were alerted at 13:18 to 2027 Tollgate Ridge Rd. (WC Box 5-10) for a MVA with ejection and fire. Rescue 55 and Engine 1-55 was the first to arrived on scene to find a confirmed dispatch with a total of 4 pt's. Pt's was transported by Amb 55 and WC Amb 59-2. Box went available at 14:42. Units were alerted to the 6000 blk of Great Cove Rd. for a MVA. Rescue 55 searched the area to find nothing. Rescue 55 put the box available 10 min after dispatch. Eng 1-55, Rescue 55 was dispatched to 9000 blk of Great Cove Rd. for a MVA C55 advised no EMS services would be need. Firefighters assisted with traffic control and waited for the arrival of PSP. Vehicle was driven from the scene. Units cleared in a hour.

38TH ANNUAL FIREMANS BANQUET
Jan 16th - On January 14th we held our 38th annual fireman's banquet. The MC was David Hoover. The 38th annual fireman's banquet started with a word of prayer also the pledge of allegiance . The banquet was catered by Pittman's Supermarket from Hancock MD. The presidents report done by Jim Divelbliss announced the following information. He discussed the company's need for a new facility. The company had received grants for rescue tools and debt reduction on the new engine from the state fire commission. Also received 2 grants from the state department of community and economic development for equipment. One representative "Ray Miller"of the PA bureau of forestry granted us with a check to help cover the cost of upgrading equipment. The Herb Fisher Memorial Award was given to Lou Dennis. The auxiliary " Carol Dennis " presented 2 checks for heating oil along with a photo of the fire company. Wavy Kirk also presented a check from bingo proceeds. Fire Chief's report done by Deputy Chief "Mike Han " announced over 2007 NVFC responded to 148 Calls, 42 MVA's, 2 Chimney fires, 8 Structure fires, 17 brush fires, 3 Vehicle fires, 16 mutual aids, 6 public service, and more. The company on average has 8 firefighters per call and over 2007 there was 1,868 man hours. The following top 10 responders: George Johnson 38 calls, Ronnie Powell 38, Rhonda Knable 41, Howard Messerly 42, Brian Strait 43, Jim Divelbliss 47, Steve Knable 49, David Stotler 53, John Beatty 53, Denis Strait 65, Mike Hann 110 and JR Sigel 118 calls. Top 2 junior responders: Josh Divelbliss 91 calls and Justin Carbaugh 70 calls. Denis Strait past fire chief steps down after 17 years. Denis Strait receives Fireman Of The Year from past Fireman Of The Year Jason "Barney" Barnhart. Special award was given to Ron "Buck" Richards for his 20 years of services as the ambulance treasure. In 2008 Brian Strait will be the ambulance treasure. The following top 10 ambulance responders: Lauren Beaston 30, Donna Mellott 40, George Johnson 42, Ronnie Powell 15, Eddie Barnhart 47, Stacey Barnhart 59, Lou Dennis 74, Josh Breeden 77 Carol Dennis 132, David Stotler 137, and Jerry Mellott Jr 140.
Fallen Brother Jan 9th - One of our fellow brothers passed away December 24th 2007 Eugene "GENO" Mellott. Gen-O served as a firefighter, fire police, past president, our dispatcher before 911 came effect.
Very special thanks to all the fire companies and ambulance services that participated in the funeral . Your thoughts was greatly appreciated ! SMOKE IN A HOUSE Oct 19th - Eng 1-55, Eng 2-55, T55, Res 55, MP 55, Amb 55, Eng 1-56, T56, and WC E53 was alerted to 2698 Pleasant Ridge Rd. for smoke in a house. Engine 1-55/C2-55 was first to arrive on scene to find light smoke showing from the exterior. Command 55 advised rest of the units responding it was at the same place that we had the chicken coop fire. Firefighters grabbed the thermal imaging camera while other firefighters pulled off 1 3/4" hose line off along with positive pressure fan. Firefighters searched basement of the mobile home to find a furnace malfunction. Command 55 advised hqs to transfer WC Eng 53 to station 55. Units cleared in about 1 1/2. MUTUAL AID TO MORGAN COUNTY
Oct 16th - Tanker 55 was alerted around 14:45 to Morgan County, 761 Jim West Rd. For a mobile home fire. Tanker 55 arrived on scene to find mobile home on fire. T 55 supplied engine 1-11 with a total of 4,500 gal. of water "3 loads". T55 went available in about 3 hours. MVA
Oct 7th - Units were alerted around 00:00 to 3876 Black Oak Rd. Belfast township for a MVA. Units alerted were. Engine 1-55, Res 55, Amb 55, WC M59, WC SQ59, WC E52. While units were enroute headquarters advised units responding we had a single auto into a tree. Units arrived on scene to find single vehicle into a tree with pt. self extracted. Pt was laying in the grass behind the car complaining of head, chest, and leg trauma. Command 55 advised headquarters to start air medical. Headquarters advised STAT 12 had a 16 min. ETA once in the air. LZ was set up just east of the mva. Units cleared in about a hour.
MVA
Oct 7th - Firefighters were awaken to hearing the tones going off and being dispatched to the intersection of Wartzville and Great Cove Rd. for a MVA. Units alerted was Res 55, MP 55, Amb 55, and M 56. While enroute headquarters advised Res 55/C 2-55 that there was a MVA with vehicle over an embankment with pt. still in the car unresponsive. Seconds later Res 55 was the first to arrive on scene to find a vehicle over the embankment pt sitting on the guardrail w/ head trauma, possible dislocated shoulder, and so on . Command 55 advised headquarters to put aero medical on stand by. STAT 12 had a 16 min eta after lift off. Few seconds later they advised STAT 12 could not fly do to weather. Then headquarters checked on 2 nd due aero medical which was Life Lion out of Carlisle. How every they where unable to fly as well. PT was transported to FCMC class 1. Later then flown to another hospital.
CONTROL BURN
Sept 12th - Units were alerted to the area of I70 and Buck Valley Rd. for unknown type fire. While enroute headquarters advised that caller was a passbyer and advised they seen smoke in the area. Also while enroute headquarters advised us that EMT 55-06 was on scene advising it was a trash fire. Units arrived on scene to find a small area of trash burning and advised headquarters that it was a control burn and was placing the box available. Units on Scene Eng 1-55, MP 55, AMB 55, WC SPU 5, and WC AMB59 MVA/SMOKE IN A HOUSE
Sept 8th - Units were alerted to 3000 blk of Great Cove Rd. for a MVA. Units alerted were Eng 1-55, R55, Amb55, and WC Amb59. Units arrived on scene to find a minor MVA with 2 PT refusals and one class 3 PT. Firefighters assisted the EMS crew with loading the pt and FF crews stayed on scene to clean debris removal and for the arrival of PSP and the tow truck. Couple hours later the tones hit for another call. Units were alerted to 12952 Buck Valley Rd. for a smoke in a house. LT55 was on scene advising there was smoke in the house and there was fire in the house but it burned it self out. Units arrived on scene to find the kitchen area of the house was on fire with little smoke around. Firefighters setup positive pressure fan and ff's checked for extension. Search come up negative. Units cleared in about hour. CONTROL BURN
Sept 7th - Units were alerted to 1708 Quarry Hill Rd. for a building fire. Units alert was Eng 1-55, T55. R55, Amb55, WC E 52, WC E 53, WC Amb59, WC SQ59, MC E 111, and MC T120. While enroute headquarters advised units responding that they received a call from a passbyer in the area of 1-70 mm 169 and advised there was fire coming from a building. LT 55 was the first one on scene upgrade headquarters on info and advised that it was a control burn and they was burning a old mobile home requesting only 1 eng. Command 55 went ahead and canceled all MC units and held Co.55 and WC Co.5 units. units arrived on scene to find a mobile burned down to the ground. Command 55 advised to list as a controlled burn and all units would be returning available. FF'S SAVE BARN
Sept 4th - Units were dispatched around 15:30 to 4752 Pleasant Ridge Rd. for a trash fire. While enroute headquarters advised units responding that there was a trash fire to the rear of 4752 Pleasant Ridge Rd. Engine 1-55 was approaching about 2 miles from the scene and seen heavy black smoke. Engine 1-55 arrived on scene to find a large trash fire endangering a barn. Command 55 advised headquarters to start a tanker out of 56. FF's put a quick knock down on the fire. Units returned available in about 2 hrs. Units on scene: Eng 1-55, T55, Amb 55, and T56 FATAL MVA W/ENTRAPMENT
Aug 25th - Units were dispatched at 19:30 to the intersection of Great Cove. Rd and Thompson Rd. for a MVA w/entrapment. Units arrived on scene to find a 2 vehicle MVA with one 1 vehicle about 300 foot from the intersection w/entrapment and priority 4. Additional Amb was dispatched from co.56 FF's assisted EMS personal with loading the other 2 pt's. Several roads were closed so therefore additional FP was dispatched from Co.56. FF's waited for the arrival of the coroner. the coroner confirmed a priority 4. FF's then proceeded with the extraction. Units remained on scene with lighting for PSP and the reconstruction team. Road was closed for about 6 1/2 hours.
MOBILE HOME FIRE/ MVA W/FIRE
Aug 22nd - Firefighters woke up to hearing the tones going off for a mobile home fire. Units were dispatched to 1518 Stoneybreak Rd. for a mobile home fire. Units arrived on scene to find the mobile home already a total loss. Firefighters put a quick knock down on what was still burning. Units cleared in about a hour. While units were returning to the station the tones hit again for a auto accident with fire. Units were alerted to 4749 Thompson Rd. for a MVA w/fire. While enroute headquarters advised units responding that there was a MVA w/fire pt was out of the vehicle. Firefighters arrived on scene shocked to find 3 autos with 1 fully engulfed, 1 w/confinement, 1 sideways in the roadway, and one pt in the grass. command 55 advised headquarters to go ahead and start a AMB out of 56 and penn dot " due to large amounts of oil". FF's put a quick knock down on the vehicle while other ff's popped driverside door of the car to get access to the pt and assisted with other pt's. The roadway was closed for about 3 1/2 hours for PSP to do there investigtion, pen dot, and ff's to clean the highway. 1 pt was transported priority 1 and 2 ones were transported priority 2.
